Back to exhaustion...
Just when you think you've got this parenting thing down and you're able to sleep all night long, life throws you a curve.
Emma's going through one (or two or all) of three things right now: teething, cold, and/or reactions from her shots. Poor thing has been miserable for the past two days. The night after her shots was rough with her waking up every couple of hours but then it was back to a full 11 hours for the next couple nights...until saturday night.
She stayed with a friend of ours Saturday while we went to the Bama/LSU baseball game and she said she noticed that Emma was unusually chill and cuddly. She was a little grumpy when we got home Saturday evening but ate fine and was ready for bed at normal time. She felt a little warm so we gave her some tylenol but that was only the beginning. It was up at 10:30, 11:30 and 4:15 with two diaper changes and two temp checks which confirmed that she ran a low grade fever all night. After the 4:15 wake up followed by an hour in our bed trying to get her to go back to sleep with no success, I decided worship was a no go on Sunday. I was sad because I was so excited for her to wear her easter dress and get pics with her and her easter basket. This was the best I got:
She enjoyed playing with the plastic eggs the most. I figure this is the only year I'll be able to get away with practical gifts, like socks and bows. She got some snacks too but along with not feeling great, she also lost her appetite. It was a struggle just to get her to drink her milk, which she loves!
She got two great naps though and slept a whole 12 hours Sunday night! E was just exhausted...and so was mommy and daddy. I wish there was a way you could get caught up on missed sleep. While last night was much better, the energy of a toddler and her squirminess is a whole new exhaustion we're learning about now. But we're beyond blessed to see her change and grow daily!
Hope everyone is enjoying a nice southern spring!
God bless!
