Time Flies

Has it really been 3 weeks since my baby came in to this world?! Sometimes it seems like just yesterday and sometimes (most of the time during midnight feedings) it seems like it's been months instead of weeks. We're slowly getting into a routine and late night/early morning feedings are starting to get easier to handle. Thankfully, Emma is a champ when it comes to sleeping at night - she takes after her parents ;) - so she really only gets up once in the wee hours of the morning.

Emma went on her first REAL outing on Saturday. Rory had a guys day and went to Tuscaloosa for the A-Day game so Emma and I spent the day with Monica and Eli. It was so much fun to have a mommy day with another mommy! We decided to load the kiddos up and have a nice lunch outing (Emma and Eli's first date!) and then drop by target to pick up a few things before heading to an Easter egg hunt.

See, two rear facing seats will fit side-by-side! ;) Emma did awesome and slept all the way through lunch (with the help of some gripe water) and then woke up just in time to eat at Ms Janice's house while the big kids hunted Easter eggs. The agreement was that we could go but no one was allowed to touch her (per daddy's orders) so Momo and LaLa made sure everyone obeyed ;) it was such a beautiful day and I was so glad to get out of the house for a little bit! Now I can't wait until we can really start getting her out :)

I always daydreamed about those funny diaper changing moments that parents laugh about before she got here and now we have our own epic diaper changing memories already! Rory kept Emma last night so that I was able to get out and go to church since he went yesterday morning and let's just say, he got a little more than he was expecting ;) Poor little thing wanted her mama from the moment I left :/ it was rough on me too even though I was only gone for an hour. Rory got a nice surprise when he went to change her diaper. She has this cry where it's more coughing than crying and everyone knows what coughing when you have to poop can result in ;) needless to say, Rory got a nice view of Emma's coughing poops and a nice strong flow of pee to follow! I wish I could have seen it :) I probably wouldn't have been able to contain myself!

As well as I know how quickly life can change since Emma has been here, one event stopped Rory and I cold in our tracks last night. We got the call from Rory's mom earlier yesterday that his dad was having a major headache and had to come home from work because it was being accompanied by throwing up. She told Rory that she might take him to the ER if he couldn't stop getting sick. Rory's first thought was a migraine because a lot of people get sick when they have those. After a few hours, we received another call from Rory's sister. His dad had been taken to the ER because he was still getting sick and after many tests, they found a brain aneurism. It had not ruptured (thank the Lord!) so they were putting him in the CCU for further testing and observation so that they could determine the best course of action. A doctor from Vanderbilt was driving down this morning to observe Ray and perform the surgery to fix the aneurism if that's what they determine is the best thing to do. It's been scary and nerve racking for Rory and I because we are two hours away but Rory is headed up to be with them today so I know that will help to calm him :) Please say a little prayer that the doctors will make the best decisions and that God will be with Ray through this. Pray also for comfort and strength for our family during today and the next few days as this will definitely be a life-changing event! Lord willing, everything will go off without a hitch and Ray will be back to his old self in no time. It makes you stop and thank God for all the blessings that we have and especially the medical blessings we have in this country that they're able to find these things before it's too late! To God be the glory!!

Also, say another quick prayer for my best friend Sarah's little girl Mollie. She's two weeks old and fighting a bacterial infection at a Huntsville hospital. I know that Beau and Sarah are worried sick but they know that God is faithful and will watch over their baby girl!

Hope everyone else's Easter was good and uneventful! Hoping this week brings some relief to many of my loved ones!

God bless!
