Cinco en la quinta
Miss Emma had a very full week last week and is now five weeks old! Where is the time going?! And like clockwork, she has turned into an irritable, inconsolable baby. I'm wondering where my good and chill baby went! Apparently, between 4 and 5 weeks, the fussiness really ramps up due to growth spurts. She's still sleeping good at night but our naps during the day are just that...naps. I know she's getting plenty to eat cuz the little chunk gained over a pound and a half in 3 weeks :) it's craziness though when she's eating every 2 1/2 hours and only sleeping maybe an hour in between :/ But it's bliss when she is sleeping lol!
Her 4 week birthday was accompanied with some scary weather so we had our second sleepover at Reesee and Pop's. This time, Reesee bought her a packnplay so Emma had a place to sleep :) it was a good thing too because there wasn't much room in the full size bed me and Rory had to sleep in lol! God was good to protect us while we were there but we were sad that so many people one city over lost so much :( Kimberly got hit pretty hard but thanks be to God that no one was seriously injured :)
In other news, we made our first trip to church yesterday! She did awesome! We learned real quick that going anywhere with a baby takes more planning and scheduling than we thought! It all has to be calculated down to the minute and with EVERY senario taken into consideration....like, if you're going to change your baby's clothes around the same time they "might' wake up for a feeding, you better be ready to feed that baby! Let's just say Emma's feeding was interrupted briefly with a car ride so we wouldn't be super late ;)
She stayed awake most of the time at church during the sermon and class but was asleep during the "intermission" as Mr Paul calls it and the right after class was over :) She only had one fit right as we got to church last night but it was more due to the fact that she doesn't like to be strapped in her car seat and not moving than anything else. Once her mama had her, she was out like a light :)
We also had our first road trip this weekend! We went to visit her Mammy and Pappy in Tennessee and she was awesome all weekend there too! We only had one meltdown Friday night while eating but once she was asleep, she slept for almost four hours! That's amazing considering she doesn't sleep well when we're not at home. Her Pappy was so glad to get to see her and hold her :) we're so glad God gave us the chance to see him again! Everything has gone well so far with Ray and he will be going to visit the oncologist today and Wednesday to discuss the next steps. We're praying that everything goes great and that we can have many more years with the best father-in-law and pappy!
God is doing more in our lives and we are anxious to see where He will take us. We knew he would answer our prayers in His way and His time and we are so blessed to serve such an awesome God! Hope everyone has a safe Cinco de Mayo and tries to stay cool in this crazy warm weather.
God Bless!
