Opportunities

Do you know just how good God is? Well let me just tell you!

A prayer that Rory and I have been praying for the last couple of weeks has been answered in the form of an awesome opportunity for Rory!!! I may have eluded to the fact that Rory's employer (former now) State Farm was less than cooperative when Rory's dad was diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent brain surgery. Of course Rory was going to be there for the surgery and while he was in the hospital! What idiots would think that someone would choose work over a family emergency?! Especially one where doctors are basically telling you that you have a limited amount of time left with your father! Because of the days he took when we had Emma shortly before that, he didn't have but a day or so to take to be with his dad and they were less than thrilled to allow him to take HIS days to be there. Basically, it came down to be terminated or beat them to the punch and bow out now...

It was a call that we made together and I was not disappointed in the least :) I am so proud of my husband for making such a tough decision during such a rough time. Obviously I wish it wasn't one that we had to make, but you control what you can and leave the rest to God. It was not a decision that came lightly and was accompanied with many long talks between us and God. Anyone who's been in this situation knows that the unknown is the scariest part...how long will we have to go on one income? What can we cut to make it? Thanks be to God that answers were coming very shortly!

I am so proud of my husband and this trial just made me realize how much more I love him every day! He provides for us in the best ways, not just financially. Yes, I will be a working mom for now but I know that Rory wants to do all within his power to allow me to stay home with Emma and any other children God decides to bless us with and I love him even more for that :)

So how was our prayer answered you ask? In the form of an amazing job in the field that Rory is currently getting a degree for! He has been diligently looking for a job since he left State Farm and he found an opportunity at 84 Lumber as a drafter. He found the opening while taking his last exam for class and was offered the job yesterday after meeting with the manager at 84 Lumber! It is the perfect job because his hours are as flexible as he wants them to be and it's amazing experience for his drafting degree! They are more than willing to work with him around his school so that he can finish (another reason I am beyond proud!). The only downside...it's in Bessemer :/ Looks like we'll be searching for a more gas-efficient car to replace the Ranger very soon :)

So this just goes to show that God has better plans than you could ever think of! Had Rory not left his job and been looking for another one, he would not have thought to look at his school's bulletin board for job openings and found the perfect job for him!

Now we're praying that God will allow Rory's dad to get good reports from doctors and do well in his treatments so that we can get more time with him and Emma can grow up knowing her Pappy! He answers all prayers in His time and His way!

God bless!
