Our new "normal"

Anyone who uses baby and normal in the same sentence either has many many babies or they are clearly not in their right mind...

There is a new "normal" once you start a family, but that old "normal" of sleeping in on Saturdays and quick runs to Walmart are a thing of the past. Maybe one day when Emma is a teenager we will resume that old "normal", although it will probably seem foreign to us having lived many "normals" between now and then.

Our "normal" routine has changed yet again with the onset of Emma's three month growth spurt and possible teething. She has been drooling enough to fill a small swimming pool and is ill as a hornet at least two to three times a day. Her napping has gotten much better but getting her down to nap is now the challenge. She fights sleep so bad! She's just so worried she's going to miss something so important. Our nights have begun to suffer as well. I was so excited that we were going to have one of those babies who slept 8-9 hours at 2 months, but no...maybe just for a little while. Now we're back to 6 hours if we're lucky. Last night was an exception as she slept a whole 4 hours before blowing out her diaper and letting us know all about it. I had forgotten how hard it is to change a diaper in the middle of the night when you're half asleep yourself :/

I'm really hoping today's events will result in her sleeping at least 7 hours straight, if not more. She napped like a champ today (although our morning started out VERY rough...) and then we headed to Jasper at 4 to get daddy a new truck! The Ranger seriously has one tire in the ground and with Rory working in the straight hood, we didn't want him to break down on the side of the road during rush hour on any given day.

The best part...it has room for a car seat!!! :) Now to just find another base. Thankfully, the gas mileage will stay the same (crazy, I know) and we won't have to pay on it super long which means we won't have to live the American dream (debt) with it for as long as we were thinking :)

It took a little longer than we expected to dot all the i's and cross all the t's for the truck, so naturally, Emma had to eat at least once while we were waiting. Nursing in a car is tough enough...nursing in a car while it's 90 degrees outside with the air blasting is almost impossible! But we did it :) After it was all said and done, we headed back home and had planned to go swimming with some friends, but Emma decided it was too late and screamed the whole way home from Jasper. Needless to say, it was a short trip from car seat to crib once we got home ;)

Our little three month old may be a challenge these days, but she's our challenge and we love her more than anything! I still can't believe she's three months old :( Slow down time!!! We've got one more month before we start part time daycare. Thankfully, I'll still get to keep her a couple days a week, but it's going to be so hard in September when she goes full time :( I would love nothing more than to be a stay-at-home mom but I do love having adult interaction, even if work is crazy!

Hope everyone has a safe a fun 4th!!!

God Bless!
