The First of Many
This week, Penny is 14 weeks old and time is not slowing down! We had a weekend of many firsts, some of which were a little rough, but I know there will be many more experiences like this to come!
Penny closed out her growth spurt at the end of last week but kept up her increase in formula! She's now up to 5 1/2 oz every 4 hours but has also dropped a feeding completely. She's staying awake longer now too, so she's definitely growing! Still averaging about 9 hours of sleep at night (hallelujah!) so I'm not complaining! We're still working on not getting up at least once at night to put the paci back in, but I'm getting better at going back to sleep fast so it hasn't been as rough.
Emma's still pushing her limits like a true three-nager, which is, unfortunately, resulting in increased discipline. I've been that mom that counts up until now, which has worked like a charm, but now she's waiting until RIGHT before I get to three to even move. I'm afraid the counting is about to change from having until the count of three to do it to being the number of spankings you get until you do what you're told. My parents used this method once we got a little older and it was terrifying! Maybe we won't have to use this method very long with Emma. It still remains to be seen how Penny's temperament will be.
Rory and I made plans this past weekend to go to the new SunTrust Park to watch the Braves take on the Nationals. Our friend Colby had been wanting to take Rory to a game for his birthday for the last month and a half, so we decided to all go along with another friend. Colby graciously paid for Rory's ticket, and neither of them were going to settle on sitting in the nosebleeds! Instead, we shoveled out the dough to sit just outside the Chophouse restaurant in right field...we're talking first row! We were positioned right behind the right fielder, which was great when the Braves were playing defense, and was absolutely hilarious when the Nationals were in the field. If you don't follow baseball, Bryce Harper is the National's right fielder. Ladies, think the haircut fad that's been going around of short hair underneath and the longer hair swept over...that's the "Bryce Harper" haircut as he's the one that started it all. Guys, everybody knows Harper is just stupid talented in baseball. Naturally, the heckling was at a level all its own! Some of it was a little below the belt, but the majority of it was entertaining to listen to. There's no doubt in my mind that Bryce Harper was having a good laugh inside from the jeers while thinking about the millions of dollars he was making just to stand there. Dumb.
Emma and Penny spent the day (and the night) with some friends while we were in Atlanta and got to go to the Alagasco Rodeo Saturday morning and then spent the rest of the day at the farm. Both girls had a blast and Penny did great on her first full day with out us!
The plan was for us to get them late Saturday night, but I packed enough for them to spend the night and meet us at church Sunday, just in case. Good thing too! The weather cooperated for the most part, oh, except for that two hour rain delay right in the middle of the game.

Watching the Braves with Daddy!
She's ganna be his little buddy!

The new SunTrust Park!
Only the greatest manager EVER!
The view from our seats ;)
The cup holders were chilled so they kept my water cold the whole time!
Tyler Flowers and Bartolo Colon warming up.
Flowers ended up hitting one of the THREE homeruns from the Braves that night!
This flag was MASSIVE!
The Braves right fielder, Nick Markakis
A pretty sweet view :)
Ole Bryce Harper ;)

Emma dressing Uncle Roger up as a Mr. Potato Head
The plan was for us to get them late Saturday night, but I packed enough for them to spend the night and meet us at church Sunday, just in case. Good thing too! The weather cooperated for the most part, oh, except for that two hour rain delay right in the middle of the game.
After visiting the pro shop and walking around the stadium for a while, the game FINALLY resumed and the Braves closed it out with a 5-2 win! We didn't plan on staying until 9:30 pm for a 4:10 game, but things happen.
At this point, I knew there was no way we were making it back home before midnight, so I told Tonya that the girls were theirs for the night. I was nervous about how Penny would be, and for good reason. This was her first time to spend the night away from us. She's just now getting into a routine at home and I knew that this would throw a wrench in it, which would likely mean that she wouldn't sleep well. Unfortunately for Tonya and Roger, it took her a good three hours to calm down enough to go to bed for the night, which was actually sleeping on the couch with Tonya because she didn't want to be put down. She did only get up a couple of times after that (I was told) and let them get a little sleep. Thankfully, Tonya handled it all like a champ and is even willing for them to come back! Lol!
It could have meant a night of full rest for me, but when you pull in the driveway at 1:30 am and have to be up to get ready to go to church at 7 am, that's not a full night to me. I also got up once in the middle of the night (like I knew I would) and couldn't get back to sleep for about 30 minutes. My routine was all messed up too!
Sunday was another day of first. Some other friends of ours graciously offered to take Emma and another kid, along with their two kids, to the dollar movie. This was Emma's first movie ever! They decided to go see the Lego Batman movie. She had a blast! I was told she ate her weight in popcorn (really, she can eat her weight in just about anything she likes) and sat through the whole movie like a pro! Afterwards, they were treated to Frosty's! Just look at that grin!
Thankfully, both girls were completely exhausted from a weekend full of fun and BOTH slept all night long! I, however, still got up once in the middle of the night, and went ahead and put Penny's paci in her mouth so she would stay asleep. She was ready to get up at 6 am this morning so my morning was a mad rush to get myself ready and everything else set before I got her up and ready.
This week is set to be another full week of fun (at least for one of us). Rory has a three day work week after which he'll be going to see a few of the SEC Baseball Tourney games on Thursday and Friday. He also starts summer school on Wednesday. This is his last semester ever! We're so close! Arlene and Lola plan on coming down and spending the long weekend with us, starting Friday. No set plans as of yet for Monday since it's a holiday, but I fully intend on taking advantage of possibly having a nap or two!
Hope everyone has a great week and a great Memorial Day Weekend!
God Bless!
